“Leadership begins with setting the example; living the standards you demand of others and showing, not just telling, what right looks like. It means empowering people to reach extraordinary heights by equipping them with the tools, training, and clarity of purpose they need to succeed. True leadership inspires pursuit of a noble and honorable goal, creating an environment where people don’t just accomplish the mission but thrive in the process. Above all, it is about recognizing and caring for every member of the team, because success only endures when everyone who makes it possible is valued.”

He earned a Bachelor of Science in Physics with a minor in Mathematics from Loyola University in Maryland before being commissioned as a Marine Corps officer through Officer Candidates Course in 2001. Following graduation from The Basic School, he served as a mentor and Assistant Platoon Commander to Midshipmen in the Leatherneck Program at the United States Naval Academy, beginning a career defined by operational excellence, instruction, and leadership.

Designated as a naval aviator in 2005, Tim completed F/A-18 training with VMFAT-101 in Miramar, California, and went on to serve with VMFA(AW)-121. There, he deployed to the Western Pacific and Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and earned his designation as a TOPGUN-trained Air Combat Tactics and Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor. In 2009, Captain Miller was selected as the U.S. Marine Corps F/A-18 exchange pilot with the Royal Australian Air Force’s 75 Squadron in the Northern Territory, where he served as a Flight Commander and Fighter Combat Instructor, conducting multinational exercises across Australia, Malaysia, and the United States.

Returning to the fleet, Tim joined VMFA(AW)-533, deploying twice to the Western Pacific and attending the Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Instructor (WTI) Course. From 2015 to 2019, he served as an instructor at Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron One (MAWTS-1), where he later became Operations Officer and helped shape the next generation of naval aviators. He subsequently assumed duties as Operations Officer for Marine Aircraft Group 31 in Beaufort, South Carolina, before taking command of VMFA-115 in 2020. Under his leadership, the “Silver Eagles” conducted multiple large-scale deployments and, in 2022, executed a shortnotice combat deployment to Prince Sultan Air Base, Saudi Arabia, in support of Operation Spartan Shield and Inherent Resolve.

Over the course of his 22-year Marine Corps career, Lieutenant Colonel Miller amassed more than 3,500 flight hours in tactical aircraft including the F/A-18 Hornet, F-5 Tiger II, UH-1Y Venom, and AH-1Z Viper. His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with Gold Star, the Air Medal with Strike/Flight numeral eight, the RAAF Silver Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and multiple Sea Service Deployment Ribbons.

After retiring from the Marine Corps, Tim completed his Executive MBA at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business as a Merit Scholar, concentrating in Entrepreneurship and serving as a Curriculum Advisor for his class. He transitioned into defense consulting and is now Vice President of Performance and Readiness Assessment within Warfare Solutions at 2 Circle Incorporated, where he leads data-driven training and readiness programs for the Department of Defense.

Beyond his corporate leadership role, Tim contributes to several professional and charitable organizations. He serves as a Southeast Military Advisor for the Marine Corps–Law Enforcement Foundation (MC-LEF), which provides $40,000 educational accounts to the children of fallen Marines and federal law enforcement officers. He is also an instructor with The Squadron NYC, leveraging high-fidelity F-35 flight simulators to deliver corporate leadership training, and consults with private fixed-base operators to enhance support for military tactical aviation training requirements.
